Lesson Learned in Limit Hold'em Poker...What happens in Vegas playing rags SHOULD STAY in VEGAS.
I was at the Luxor last night playing Limit Hold'em 2/4, enjoying the scene and holding out OK at the table. I'm dealt 10/2 offsuit aka "The Brunson" and decided to play the hand from early position.
Flop comes 10/K/Rag....There's a 4 way action to the turn when a 2 pops. Well, it may be a rag to most, but it was 2 pair to me. I fired out and got two callers into the river.
River brings a 10 and Pink Floyd's "Money" starts playing in my head. It's me and another guy. I check the hand of course hoping to induce a bet. He bets, I raise, he re-raises and I cap the action at 4 bets or $16.
I say Full House with passion (10, 10, 10, 2, 2).....He then says FULL HOUSE...(10, 10, 10, K, K) He was holding 10/K off suit.
Major pot went the other way.
Moral of the story. Play Rags with Eyes Wide Open. If you mix up your play and hit a monster hand, don't be blinded by the BOAT. There are 5 other Boats that can beat you. The Brunson left me light in the pocket.
Overall, I'm at Level Par for the trip. Last night I was staring at the felt twice and made comebacks on two hands to eke out a positive return.
NotPhilIvey is on a Plane out to Vegas. We're hooking up with GameMiscondct tonight and will enter a tournament. Perhaps the Orleans.
Chief.
